Complications following hysterectomy leads to death.
Mitchell Hoffman & Wolf partner, Ken Hoffman recently obtained a wrongful death settlement for the family of a 44 year old woman in the amount of $1.05 million. She was admitted to St James Hospital in Chicago Heights for a hysterectomy. Following the surgery she developed signs indicating that the gynecologist had accidentally cut a hole in her bowel during the surgery. The doctors managing her care ignored these signs. The failure to timely respond to these signs lead to her death 10 days following surgery. She was survived by 3 adult children.
